Gattaca

Gattaca

In a near-future where a person's worth is determined by their genes, a man deemed genetically inferior—diagnosed at birth with a heart condition and a life expectancy of thirty years—borrows blood, urine, and skin cells daily from a genetic elite who lost his legs in an accident, perfectly forging his identity. Just as he's about to seize his dream of becoming an astronaut, a murder occurs, and the investigation closes in on his fabricated identity. Gattaca.

A story of a man trying to live a future that his genes never wrote for him, in a world where genes decide everything. The production design of the cold, flawless future city is beautiful, yet the most beautiful thing in the film is the "impurity" called willpower—something never encoded in any genome. A film that pushes you forward: you don't have to be perfect; if you have something to reach for, don't stop. He kept swimming.
